About this Event   art webinars for adults exploring the architecture from Ancient Greco-Roman time  Rome. St. Peters Cathedral.

Borromini and Bernini are reshaping the city in a new derivative baroque style, bending and stretching the possibilities of a monumental Catholic church..the papal architect Carlo Maderno takes on the idea of how the architectural ideas from the ancient greek library at Ephesoscould be adapted for the facade of the new Catholic cathedral in Rome after its medieval version was demolished...

We invite you to explore how the same functional ideas of niches and theatrical Skenae were adapted to incorporate new mechanisms like clocks and bell towers while the balconies are no longer for the Roman Emperor but someone arguably more powerful...

The session will begin with a PowerPoint presentation, after which you will be invited to draw and to paint a facade of St Peter's in Rome under the guidance of an experienced artist and art historian.  It will be a fun and informative session, that everyone will enjoy.

This webinar will be available as a recording for 7 days and the email with the link will be sent to all the participants after the end of the live webinar - so you can watch it any time later on if you can't make the live session.

In the live webinar, you will be able to ask questions in the chat.
